When OnePlus launched their first ever foldable smartphone, we thought it was just another smartphone maker trying to muscle their way into the foldables market. We were proven wrong during our review where we were pleasantly surprised at what the phone had to offer. If you’re looking forward to the OnePlus Open 2, here’s when it might launch.
According to a post on X by user Rodent950, they claim that the OnePlus Open 2 is expected to launch in the first quarter of 2025. This is apparently due to the launch date of the OPPO Find N5, which is what the OnePlus Open 2 is allegedly based on. If Oppo’s launch date for the phone is Q1 2025, chances are the second-gen OnePlus Open phone will have a similar launch date too.
At the moment not much is known about the handset. One of the main things we loved about the OnePlus Open 2 is its camera setup. Compared to other foldables like the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold series, it seemed like OnePlus did a much better job. We also expect that given it is a 2025 phone, there’s almost a guarantee that it will use the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chipset.
Either that or OnePlus could seek a cheaper alternative like MediaTek’s brand new Dimensity 9400 chipset. In any case, hopefully we’ll have more details in the coming months, so check back with us for more updates.
