Samsung Galaxy announced a new entry-level smartphone with 6 years of software support

South Korean tech giant Samsung has unveiled a new entry-level smartphone, the Galaxy A16 5G. The company’s new 5G-enabled smartphone brings a few notable upgrades over its predecessor including a larger display and a whopping 6 years of major Android Updates (Android 15, 16, 17,18,19,20), which is great.

Powering the entire unit by Samsung’s in-house Exynos 1330 chipset paired with 4GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage which is further expandable via micro-SD card slot. Speaking about software, the smartphone runs on Android 14 based on Samsung’s OneUI 6.0 out of the box.

The Galaxy A16 5G retains a 50MP primary camera from the predecessor. The main camera is paired with a 5MP ultrawide shooter and a 2MP macro lens. There’s a 13MP front camera for capturing selfies and video chats. Samsung ditched a 3.5mm headphone jack from the A16 5G.

On the front, the smartphone features a beautiful 6.7-inch FHD+ Super AMOLED display. The screen’s 90Hz refresh rate ensures a great scrolling experience. The case is rated IP54 which means it can easily withstand normal water spalshes.

Samsung packs a 5,000mAh battery with 25W fast charging support. Unfortunately, Samsung doesn’t offer the charger in the box, and you will have to buy it separately. Other features include a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, bottom-firing speakers, WiFi 5, and NFC chip.

The Samsung Galaxy A16 5G starts at €249 (~$273) for the base 4GB + 128GB model. It comes in Midnight Blue, Turquoise, and Gray color options.
