Philips’ New Play Wall Washer Adds Dynamic Visual Flair to Your Lighting Setups

Philips’ line of Hue smart lighting equipment has undoubtedly been one of the go-to brands for buyers looking to enhance their indoor (or sometimes outdoor) lighting setups, and the company today recently announced the addition of the Play Wall Washer, which provides a more immersive approach to indoor lighting with vibrant and dynamic effects.

Philips says that the Play uses an exclusive ColorCast projection technology to “deliver vibrant, wide-angle gradients and lighting effects,” all within a compact and sleek-looking aluminium chassis. Users can program the Play Wall Washer to sync to their TV in real-time, allowing it to change colours and gradients depending on what kind of game or movie is currently playing.

Users can also change the projection area by placing the wall washer closer or further from the wall. You can also opt to turn off the sync mode, in which case the Play switches over to ambient lighting. Users can further customize the wall washer’s functions via the Hue platform, including settings like the lighting intensity, speed, and positioning.

The Play also works seamlessly with the Hue HDMI Sync box, TV and PC Sync apps, other Hue accessories, and voice assistants including Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant, and Apple HomeKit. It starts at $219.99, and will be available this June in the US and Canada.
