OPPO and Hasselblad extend partnership to develop next-gen mobile camera system

OPPO is doubling down on mobile photography. At an event in Gothenburg, the company announced it’s extending its long-running partnership with iconic camera brand Hasselblad. The two are now working on a next-generation imaging system for future OPPO phones.

This partnership started four years ago and has shaped the camera experience on OPPO’s flagship Find series. Rather than just slapping on a logo, OPPO worked closely with Hasselblad to co-develop real features. This includes natural color tuning, Hasselblad-style Portrait Mode, and XPAN Mode for that classic cinematic crop.

OPPO also added exclusive photo styles to its camera app. These modes are inspired by Hasselblad’s look and feel, letting users shoot with a distinct aesthetic that stands out from typical smartphone filters.

Other brands have taken similar routes. Xiaomi partnered with Leica, while Vivo worked with Zeiss. But OPPO’s collaboration with Hasselblad stands out for how much it’s shaped the camera tuning and user experience.

The most recent Find X8 Ultra continued this trend with a 50MP RAW Max format, a dedicated Master Mode, and an AI Bokeh Engine that handles edge detection with incredible precision.

Now, both companies are aiming even higher. They’re building a new mobile imaging system designed to push smartphone photography forward. Details are still under wraps, but OPPO says more information will come later this year.
