Google’s upcoming Pixel Watch 4 could be getting a major fitness upgrade, especially for those who take strength training seriously. According to a new report from Android Headlines, the watch will introduce a Workout Builder tool that lets users create custom interval sessions with warm-ups and cooldowns. This gives users more control over how they train, with the added benefit of potentially reducing injury.
Paired with Fitbit Premium, the watch may also offer AI-generated daily run recommendations based on your recent activity. These workouts can be executed directly on the watch, with real-time guidance and a full post-workout breakdown that includes cadence, stride length, vertical oscillation, and ground contact metrics. These are features usually found on high-end running devices.
Google is also rumored to be improving swim tracking and cycling detection, while refining its activity recognition. The Pixel Watch 4 could better identify over 40 types of exercises and deliver more accurate Readiness Scores to help you decide whether to rest or push harder.
While the design is said to remain similar to last year’s model, one key change could be repairability. That’s a big deal considering past Pixel Watches had to be fully replaced if something went wrong. Both versions of the Pixel Watch 4 are also expected to include improved dual-band GPS and larger batteries for better tracking and longer endurance.
Nothing’s official yet, but Google is expected to announce the Pixel Watch 4 at its Made by Google event in New York City on August 20. If these features pan out, it might just be the company’s most well-rounded fitness smartwatch yet.
