Samsung’s latest foldables are off to a record-breaking start in the US, especially the Galaxy Z Fold7. According to the company, it’s now the most preordered Fold model in Samsung’s history. That’s saying a lot, considering how niche foldables used to be, and how expensive they are.
The Galaxy Z Fold7 and Z Flip7 combined saw over 25% more preorders than last year’s models. Carriers were a major driver here, with in-store demand jumping by nearly 60% compared to the previous generation. Apparently, the thinner, lighter design is clicking with customers once they get their hands on it.
Color trends are also shifting. While black has typically dominated for the Fold series, this time nearly half of Z Fold7 buyers went with Blue Shadow. Meanwhile, the bright Coralred option accounted for about 25% of all Flip7 preorders. Both colors are still leading during general sales, so it doesn’t look like this is just a preorder quirk.
And the momentum isn’t slowing. Since hitting general availability last week, both phones continue to outsell their predecessors by more than 25%. The Fold7 in particular is flying off shelves, outperforming the Fold6 by nearly 50% in the first week alone.
Samsung may not have the foldable market to itself anymore, but these numbers show it’s still the brand to beat, at least in the US.
