Samsung brings more advanced Bixby to its new TVs

Earlier this year, Samsung announced its new TVs with a new version of Bixby that can better understand natural language. Now, the company has announced that it will release a newer version of its digital voice assistant that is makes information discovery even more intuitive, natural, and seamless.

Samsung's 2025 TVs will get upgraded Bixby for a more personalized experience

Samsung's QLED, The Frame, Neo QLED, and OLED TVs launched in 2025 will get a newer version of Bixby. You can easily summon Bixby using your voice or by pressing the mic button on your TV's remote controller. It understands context and can remember the previous conversation to answer your questions in a better way.

It will be released as an update in South Korea and the US starting today, and will arrive in other markets in phases. Compatible TVs will get it in France, Germany, Italy, and Spain within August. Other markets will get it later.

This new version of Bixby is powered by Generative AI, like other popular chatbots such as ChatGPT and Gemini, so conversations with it feel more interactive and natural. You can ask it questions like “How tall is Mount Everest?” or ask it to “Suggest a chill playlist for a rainy day,” and it will perform those tasks for you.

Bixby can even help you with questions that you may have about things on the screen, such as a food item, an actor, or a scene. With the new update, Bixby is now integrated into Click to Search, which makes it easier to explore content. You can even ask it for things that are not on the screen, such as “Tell me the recipe for making pasta” or “Recommend me movies about football.”

The AI-powered voice assistant integrates with SmartThings as well, allowing you to control compatible smart home devices. It makes your TV the central hub for managing and controling those devices. Thanks to Knox, all the data in SmartThings is secure.

Last year, Samsung announced that it will offering seven major Tizen OS updates to its TVs. As a part of that promise, the company will release a newer version of the Vision AI software suite in October 2025. It isn't clear if TVs launched before 2024 will get this upcoming software update.

Hun Lee, Executive Vice President of the Visual Display Business at Samsung Electronics, said, “Samsung has led the global TV market for 19 consecutive years, and we continue to raise the bar by delivering meaningful innovation that enhances everyday experiences. With a smarter Bixby, we focused on making AI practical, helping viewers connect with content in smarter, more natural ways.
