Samsung brings DSLR-style focus tricks to Galaxy Enhance-X with One UI 8

Samsung is giving its phones some serious DSLR vibes. With the latest Galaxy Enhance-X update, users running One UI 8 can now pull off photography tricks that feel straight out of a dedicated camera, including something we haven’t seen in years: focus shifting after the shot.

Version 16.0.01.8 of Galaxy Enhance-X introduces two new tools: Focus Shift and Crop & Upscale. Focus Shift lets you tap on any part of a photo to bring that spot into sharp detail while blurring the rest, mimicking shallow depth-of-field. It’s a feature that reminds us of the old Lytro camera, which let you refocus photos after taking them. Except now it’s all powered by AI, no weird boxy hardware required.

Crop & Upscale has also leveled up. You can now scale images up to 5x resolution using AI, with custom presets that give you more control. It’s great for cleaning up grainy old photos or cropping tighter without making everything look like a pixelated mess.

Galaxy Enhance-X already handles glare, blur, moire, and poor lighting. But with these new additions, it’s starting to feel more like a portable editing suite than just a utility app. As long as you’re on One UI 8, your phone just got a lot more powerful, no lens swap needed.
