BYD Designed a Dedicated Tablet Console for In-vehicle Infotainment

These days, it’s not exactly uncommon to see dedicated touchscreen consoles inside a lot of newer vehicles, most of which are integrated into dashboards and consoles to provide drivers additional control over their vehicle. That being said though, there are times when manufacturers would rather have complete control over all the hardware within their vehicles, instead of turning to third-party solutions.

One good example is Chinese auto veteran BYD, which recently unveiled a new in-house tablet which will be used for its upcoming Tai 7 SUV, to be sold under BYD’s “Fang Cheng Bao” sub-brand. Officially revealed online by BYD itself, the tablet is detachable from its in-vehicle dock (ala Pixel Tablet), with access to different modes for varied driving situations and functions.

With that in mind however, BYD didn’t disclose any hardware specifics of the tablet and whether or not it runs on Android, only saying that it’s designed to integrate with the Tai 7.

Just last month, BYD also announced a new smart feature that will allow owners to use their Samsung Galaxy Watch as a digital car key, which will support a handful of models from Samsung. It’s not available for all Galaxy Watches however, so users will need to have either the Galaxy Watch7, Galaxy Watch8, Galaxy Watch8 Classic, or the Galaxy Watch Ultra.
