The Pixel Watch 4 is Now Official, and Packs Some Useful Tricks

While the stars of Google’s latest product launch are undoubtedly the Pixel 10-series phones, the Mountain View giant also announced a handful of other products under its Pixel line, which includes its latest Pixel Watch 4. While it doesn’t exactly switch things up in terms of design, the Pixel Watch 4 does come with some spec bumps when compared to its predecessors.

Take one look at the Pixel Watch 4, and it’s pretty clear that Google isn’t too keen on changing the design of its flagship wearable line. That being said though, there are some key changes this time around, such as the charging pin which is now located on the side of the watch. It comes in 41mm and 45mm variants, which both feature AMOLED “Actua” displays that get pretty bright at up to 3,000 nits.

The watches are also rated for IP68 dust and water protection, in addition to Gorilla Glass 5 protection for the displays.

For software, the Pixel Watch 4 comes with Wear OS 5, which also includes Google Gemini. For all intents and purposes, it looks like Google is pushing forward with its plan to slowly phase out Google Assistant in favour of Gemini, the latter of which now handles all the voice assistant functionality on the Pixel Watch 4.

Inside, the Pixel Watch 4 is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon W5 Gen 2 chipset which runs alongside a Cortex-M55 co-processor, and runs on a 455 mAh battery for the 45mm variant, and a smaller 325 mAh battery for the 41mm model. Google claims a maximum of 72 hours of battery life for the larger model, and up to 48 hours for the smaller one.

Of course in addition to this, you’re also getting support for health tracking in addition to a variety of built-in sensors, which include a skin temperature sensor, ECG monitoring, SPO2 monitoring, compass, altimeter, barometer, and gyroscope. More interestingly, the Pixel Watch 4 now supports emergency satellite SOS, in addition to other useful features such as Loss of Pulse Detection, Fall Detection, Car Crash Detection, and Safety Check for live location sharing. It starts at $399.
