In May 2024, Samsung announced that it will stop offering content for Galaxy Watch models running on Tizen OS from the Galaxy Store starting on 30 September 2025.
Well, this is a reminder that if you own Galaxy Watch running on Tizen OS, you won’t be able to download any content for your wearable from the Galaxy Store from the day after tomorrow.
Galaxy Store will drop support for these Galaxy Watch models from 30 September 2025
In 2013, Samsung launched the Galaxy Gear, the brand's first smartwatch. For that model and all the smartwatches it launched till the Galaxy Watch 3, the company used Tizen OS, before shifting to Wear OS with the Galaxy Watch 4 in 2021, which is what we see on its latest models as well. The South Korean tech giant used Tizen OS for a total of eleven smartwatches: Galaxy Gear, Gear 2, Gear Live, Gear S, Gear S2, Gear S3, Gear Sport, Galaxy Watch, Galaxy Watch Active, Galaxy Watch Active 2, and Galaxy Watch 3.
If you own any of these models, you will not be able to download content for your wearable from the Galaxy Store from 30 September 2025, irrespective if it is either free or paid. However, if you had purchased any content for your smartwatch from the Galaxy Store, you will be able to access it even after 30 September 2025, by going to Galaxy Store » Menu » My Apps. Samsung also says that services related to Galaxy Watch models running on Tizen OS will stop everywhere except in the My Apps section.
