ARTICLE: Nokia N900 shipping delayed until November

Announced in August with a target delivery date of October, the Maemo-powered Nokia N900 has been pushed back to November. According to comments made on the Maemo.org message board by Peter Schneider, Nokia's Head of Maemo Marketing, the primary reason for the delay is a continued effort by Nokia to receive as much feedback as possible from the development community:

"The Nokia N900 is a great example of what we and the open source community have been able to achieve with Maemo software. We are working closely with open source developers and for example, at the Maemo Summit in October, we loaned 300 pre-production units to get more feedback from the community. This feedback is extremely important to us and as such we also want to provide the best user experience with the Nokia N900."

Featured at CTIA earlier in the month, the N900 is the first device offered with the company's Maemo platform, and offers a 600 MHz processor, QWERTY keyboard, 3.5-inch resistive touchscreen, and a 5.0-megapixel camera with Carl Zeiss lens. It will be offered for approximately $700 dollars at launch.
