Xiaomi?s Mix Fold 2 shows Samsung how it?s done



Earlier this week, Samsung officially announced their latest flagship foldable smartphone, the Galaxy Z Fold 4. It was a bit of a lackluster launch given that apart from a few changes here and there, it isn’t as big as an upgrade we were hoping for.This is why Xiaomi’s latest foldable might actually be a more exciting alternative. The company has officially announced the Mix Fold 2, its second-gen foldable handset that boasts some pretty impressive specs and features.

https://phandroid.com/wp-content/upl...mix-fold-2.jpgStarting with the display, the cover screen features a 6.56-inch AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and Corning’s Gorilla Glass Victus. On the inner screen, the Mix Fold 2 actually one-ups the Galaxy Z Fold 4 with a larger 8-inch 120Hz LTPO2 OLED display with a peak brightness of 1,300 nits.

When it is completely open, it measures just 5.4mm thin, which Xiaomi says is thinner than the iPhone 13 Pro Max. When folded, it’s 11.2mm which makes it marginally thicker than the iPhone 13 Pro Max. In both its unfolded and folded states, it is also considerably thinner than the Galaxy Z Fold 4 based on Samsung’s specs.

The handset will be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 and will come with 12GB of RAM and 1TB of storage, and on the photography front, the Mix Fold 2 features a 50MP main shooter, a 13MP ultrawide, and an 8MP telephoto with 2x optical zoom, and it also bears the Leica branding which means that the cameras were designed with help from the famed camera company.

The Xiaomi Mix Fold 2 is priced starting at CNY8,999, which is roughly $1,335 after conversion. The downside is that if you live outside of China, you probably can’t get your hands on it, so for now it looks like those who want a foldable will have to make do with Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 4.
