Google could be bringing Material You to Chrome OS
Every couple of generations of Android, we see Google introduce a new design language to the operating system. This is meant to help keep the OS looking fresh and new while refining the overall design. With Android 12 in 2021, Google introduced an updated design language
called Material You, and it looks like Google could be bringing it to Chrome OS.This is according to the folks at 9to5Google who
discovered a new flag which when enabled, will apply Material You to Chrome OS. For those unfamiliar with Material You and the changes it brought to Android 12, basically from a visual standpoint, Material You made the overall Android interface more flat and streamlined.
One of the more noticeable visual changes is how apps and widgets will now be smarter and better at adapting to various color schemes, meaning that it helps Android 12 look more cohesive regardless of what apps you are using. Bringing it to Chrome OS should pretty much achieve the same effect, giving Chrome OS a new and fresh look.
Keep in mind that this seems to be an early implementation and based on what 9to5Google discovered, it seems rather limited, but presumably more features should unlock later on when developers update it. There’s also no telling when the feature will be rolled out to the public, but if you’re using Chrome OS, then this could be something to look forward to.
