Getting your hands on the Nothing Phone (1) might not be as easy as you think

The Nothing Phone (1) is building up a lot of hype and it’s not hard to see why. The unique design of the phone coupled with the rumored affordable price, plus the fact that former OnePlus co-founder Carl Pei is behind the device is certainly generating a lot of interest and excitement.Unfortunately, if you were thinking of getting your hands on the phone, it might be a frustrating experience. This is because in a recent video published by the company, it seems that the Nothing Phone (1) will be sold via an invite system. If this sounds familiar, it is because it is the same system that OnePlus had used during its earlier days.

According to the team at Nothing, they claim that because they are still pretty small, they don’t have the ability to produce many units at once. Pei stated in the video that they had two options: build up a lot of stock then sell it, or sell it via an invite system that would better allow them to control how many units are available and release them steadily.

We can totally understand where they are coming from, but for those who are eager to support them, like we said, it might be a little frustrating especially if invites are snapped up quickly. At this point it is unclear how the company plans on distributing invites and if it’s a first-come-first-serve scenario, or if customers will have to enter a raffle to win themselves an invite.

Either way, hopefully they will have more details for us in the coming weeks where the phone is expected to be officially announced.
