Qualcomm’s Snapdragon eSports Tournament to Start Soon

Qualcomm and its Snapdragon brand have partnered up with ESL for an upcoming esports tournament. Dubbed the “Snapdragon Pro Series,” the tournament will be open to players in several regions which include North America (NA), Europe (EUR), Middle East and North Africa (MENA), China, Asia-pacific (AP), and India. The tournament will be open to both professional competitors and even casual gamers.

The tournament will be divided into three tiers – the Snapdragon Mobile Open, Snapdragon Mobile Challenge, and Snapdragon Mobile Masters. According to ESL Mobile General Manager Kevin Rosenblatt, the “Snapdragon Pro Series gives players in multiple regions, at all levels, a chance to become a champion and compete for a share of more than $2 Million in prize money.”

Meanwhile, eight games will be featured in the tournament, which will vary by region:

• Brawl Stars – NA, EUR, MENA, and AP

• Clash of Clans – NA, EUR, and MENA

• Free Fire – AP

• League of Legends Wild Rift – AP

• PUBG Mobile – NA, EUR, and MENA

• Clash Royale – NA, EUR, and MENA

• Asphalt 9 – NA, EUR, and MENA

• Legends of Runeterra – AP

Mobile esports competitions have seen more popularity in the past few years, as more and more players have access to competitive games on their smartphones. Recently, PUBG Mobile announced that they were partnering with Sony Xperia for their tournaments this year, with Sony providing smartphones for pro teams during the competition. Likewise, players for the Snapdragon Tournaments will be provided devices with Snapdragon SoCs and equipped with “Snapdragon Elite Gaming” features.

Originally known as the “Electronic Sports League,” ESL is a German-based company that specializes in the production and organization of gaming competitions and tournaments worldwide, with offices located in several locations internationally. The company also partners with Twitch for esports broadcasts.

Qualcomm stated that tournament dates in China and India will be announced soon.
