The Oakland Raiders
Ok I have a beef with the Oakland Raiders (and I am a hard core die hard Raiders FAN!!) what the eff is Al Davis thinking keeping J. Russell on the field?? I have been a Raiders fan since I can remember, they use to have their training camp here In Santa Rosa, back in the day, they have never had a problem with a good QB, its always been problems with the defense, offense or any else but the QBs, now the got over rated effing quarter back who can throw SOOOOOO many yards on his knees, which congratulations to you Russlle!!, but why cant you throw AND hit the intended target?? I mean really? how many eff ups is it going to take for Al Davis to realize that he sucks BIG DONKEY BALLS?? Why did we cut Jeff Garcia? aside from the fact that he asked to be released, I am tired of Al Davis's bad decisions! as I'm watching them getting their asses handed to them by the NY Giants....So the world is supposed to end in 2012, I foresee us have the best year ever than!!

Re: The Oakland Raiders
Russell was a mistake from the get go. Honestly QBs are what they are after the start of the second year. If he was going to be good we would've seen it by now.

Re: The Oakland Raiders
naw you cant measure a qb like that since it also depends on the o-line, running game, wide outs, etc..... being better in all of the above makes the quarterbackslife easier as we saw with cassell.

Re: The Oakland Raiders
True but we should have seen more from Russell by now. Take Peyton Manning, Matt Ryan or Troy Aikman. With the exception on Ryan they were all showing really good stats by their second year. Ryan was a machine in his rookie season while Aikman and Manning had slow rookie years.
Show me a QB who was terrible in their first 2-3 years then took off and had a great career... I'm not saying one doesn't exist just that if they do, they would seem to be the exception not the rule. |

Re: The Oakland Raiders
? McNabb and Culpepper struggled early on? These only further prove my point. Only in McNabb's rookie season did he even remotely struggle. He threw right at 50% completions and he has never had a negative TD/INT ratio. Every year after his rookie season he was around 60%.

In fact he had one of the highest QB rating right from his rookie year. Passing Stats YEAR TEAM G CMP ATT PCT YDS AVG TD LNG INT RAT 2000 MIN 16 297 474 62.7 3937 8.3 33 78 16 98.0 2001 MIN 11 235 366 64.2 2612 7.1 14 57 13 83.3 2002 MIN 16 333 549 60.7 3853 7.0 18 61 23 75.3 2003 MIN 14 295 454 65.0 3479 7.7 25 59 11 96.4 2004 MIN 16 379 548 69.2 4717 8.6 39 82 11 110.9 I'm not saying theres has ever been someone to be as terrible as Russel is then go on to have a good career but McNabb and Culpepper were never this bad. Favre was also good from his first full season. Yes he was drafted in ATL but ATL had a decent QB at the time and he was caught up in coaching change is why he was shipped out. --------- New Post Merged on 1/12/2009 at 0138 -------- Oh and here are Russells numbers Passing Stats YEAR TEAM G CMP ATT PCT YDS AVG TD LNG INT RAT 2007 OAK 4 36 66 54.5 373 5.7 2 32 4 55.9 2008 OAK 15 198 368 53.8 2423 6.6 13 84 8 77.1 2009 OAK 9 96 205 46.8 1064 5.2 2 86 9 47.7 He's regressed this year. He has a 46% completion % in his 3rd year and 47% QB rating along with 2 tds and 9 pics. Its all over for him. Its really sad too because he has a cannon for an arm. His decision making was always in question. Decision making is infinitely more important in the NFL than a big arm. |
