Samsung Galaxy Buds 2 updated with support for 360 Audio



One of the features of Apple’s AirPods is the support for “Spatial Audio” where it basically replicates the feeling of being able to hear sound from multiple directions at once, like if you were at a cinema with speakers placed all around you. It can also take advantage of using accelerometers and gyroscopes to make what you hear relative to what’s on the screen.For example, if you were to turn your head away from the screen, the sound won’t “follow” you, but will remain anchored to where your device is, so it’s like if you turned away from someone speaking, it would sound different to what you would hear if you were speaking to them face-to-face.



Now the good news is that if you’re not an AirPods fan, Samsung has recently pushed out an update to the Galaxy Buds 2 with support for 360 Audio, which is basically Samsung’s take on spatial audio. The feature was initially launched on the Galaxy Buds Pro last year, but it seems that the Galaxy Buds 2 will also get that feature via a firmware update.

This is pretty cool because it means that those who own the Galaxy Buds 2 and don’t plan to upgrade will be able to have a new experience without spending extra money. The update is also expected to bring about improvements to Bluetooth connectivity as well as to call quality. The firmware version is R177XXU0AVC8 so keep an eye out for it if you haven’t updated already.
