New Bluetti AC500 modular power station takes battery power to the next level

When it comes to power stations, Bluetti is no stranger to that scene. In fact, the company has quite a number of power stations under its belt, ranging from small and portable to large and powerful. One of the company’s more unique offerings is the Bluetti AC300. What makes this particular power station different from the company’s other products is that it features a modular design. This means that users have the option of attaching additional B300 batteries to it if they wish, making its battery size as small or as large as users require.

If you dig the modular design but feel that the AC300 is a bit underpowered for your liking, you’re in luck because Bluetti has announced that they are launching a more powerful version in the form of the AC500 that they will be crowdfunding on Indiegogo.

Massive battery capacities

As we said, one of the perks of the AC300 is its modular design system that will accommodate the company’s B300 batteries. In total with four units of the B300, users can expect up to a maximum capacity of 12,288Wh. This is already plenty for the most part, but in case you don’t think it’s enough, that’s where the AC500 shines.

The AC500 will support the use of Bluetti’s B300 or B300S that when combined, will give users a total maximum capacity of 18,432Wh. This is way more than what the AC300 can handle, meaning that you’ll be able to rely on the AC500 much longer. This can be useful if you experience extended power outages and need to ensure that certain vital electronics are kept powered on. It is also useful if you’re constantly on the road and need to ensure that you have enough power at all times.

If that isn’t enough, users can use the AC500 with the Fusion Box Pro that can combine two AC500 units at once and essentially double up the total capacity to an eye-watering 36,864Wh. This should be enough power to last you for days or even weeks, depending on how you use it.

As usual, Bluetti relies on LiFePO4 batteries that are long-lasting and durable. These batteries are capable of going through over 3,500 charging cycles before it hits 80% of its original capacity, meaning that you can use it for years on end and not have to worry about it losing too much of its original charge.

More power

As we had mentioned before, one of the advantages of the AC500 over the AC300 is the fact that it will be a more powerful power station. The AC300 is capable of putting out 3,000W AC Pure Sine Wave and up to 6,000W in surge, but the AC500 will be able to do much more at 5,000W continuous AC output and 10,000W surge.

With a more powerful output, the AC500 will have no issues handling more energy-demanding appliances and equipment, such as dryers, refrigerators, coffee makers, and so on, so if you want to use the AC500 as an emergency generator for your home, it should be more than capable of keeping the lights on and then some.

The AC500 is also capable of 24/7 uninterrupted power supply. Usually, when a blackout occurs, your electronic gadgets will shut down since no power is being supplied. But with support for UPS, the AC500 will ensure that even in the event of a power outage, your gadgets will keep on running and you won’t lose any data in the process, useful if you’re working on important things on your computer or if you’re running a server.

Charge it the way you want

In the event you find that the AC500 and its batteries have been drained, Bluetti claims that there are a variety of ways that you can juice it back up. One of those ways is by solar charging using Bluetti’s solar panels. This is the most “green” way of juicing it back up and could be useful if you don’t really need it at full capacity anytime soon.

According to Bluetti, a 3,000W MPPT solar charge with two B300S batteries should take roughly 2.5 hours. You can also opt to charge it using more traditional methods like AC charging which will take roughly 1.7 hours. Alternatively, the fastest way would be 8,000W AC + PV dual charging which will fully juice up the AC500 and its two B300S batteries in about 1.2 hours.

The flexibility of being able to charge it any way you like is a good thing, especially for instances when you’re on the road and might only have access to solar energy, or if you’re looking to cut down on your electricity bill.

Pricing and availability

If the Bluetti AC500 is something that you think you might be interested in and have a use for, then you might want to head on over to its Indiegogo crowdfunding page where Bluetti is trying to raise the funds for it. You can pledge your support and nab yourself a unit when it eventually becomes available.
