Samsung’s Gaming Hub for TVs Might be Delayed



Earlier this year, Samsung announced that they will be launching a new wave of monitors and smart TVs which will come equipped with their new Samsung Gaming Hub. The plan was to include the Gaming Hub feature in the company’s Tizen-powered smart TVs, and will allow access to game-streaming services like Google Stadia and Nvidia GeForce Now. The Gaming Hub is one of three available software features on Samsung’s TVs, which also include the “Media” and “Ambient” Hubs, as part of a redesigned Tizen interface.

However, a recent report states that the Gaming Hub, in particular, might get pushed to a later release date this year. The initial announcement from the South Korean tech giant stated a Summer 2022 launch, although the wording has now been changed to “later this year,” which means that cloud-gaming enthusiasts might have to wait a bit longer to play their favourite games on a Samsung TV. There’s also no word yet on whether or not more game streaming services like Microsoft’s Xbox Cloud Gaming service will make their way to the Gaming Hub.

Google Stadia was originally launched back in November of 2019, and allowed gamers to stream games on their phones, laptops, and TVs through a monthly subscription service. Meanwhile, Nvidia’s GeForce Now allows players to access their existing Steam game library through the cloud and play them remotely on another device. Samsung’s initial announcement also included Utomik as one of the cloud gaming services included in the Gaming Hub.

While Samsung doesn’t primarily deal with gaming-centric hardware and software, the company includes its “Game Launcher” app on all its smartphones and tablets, which has similar software functionality to the Google Play Games App, acting as a main software drawer where all your installed games are stored. Additionally, the company also sold the Samsung GLAP Controller, a wireless Bluetooth controller for smartphones.
