WhatsApp testing feature that would let users keep a disappearing message

WhatsApp has a feature in the form of disappearing messages that basically allows users to send messages that will disappear after a period of time. The idea behind it is simple – privacy, where users might want to send messages to each other that will not be kept in the logs.Interestingly enough, a report from WABetaInfo has revealed that WhatsApp is now testing a feature that lets users keep a disappearing message. Now, it might seem kind of counterintuitive. After all, what’s the point of a disappearing message if you can keep it, right?

For example, maybe people in the chat decided that this message might be worth keeping for posterity’s sake, or maybe they think it’s not so sensitive that it needs to be deleted, so this will give them that option.

The good news is that WhatsApp is also giving users the option of undoing it. This means that if a user marks a disappearing message to be kept, but if you, the sender, or the other people in the chat decide that they don’t want to keep it, they can “unkeep” a message that would essentially delete it not just for them, but for everyone in the chat as well.

That being said, keep in mind that this feature is marked as in development which means that it may or may not make the final cut.
