Qualcomm?s Snapdragon 8 Gen 1+ might be slightly delayed

The majority of flagship phones in 2022 are powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, but the company usually releases updated versions of its chipset from time to time, and in this case, it was to be the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1+ which was supposed to launch this month.Unfortunately, it doesn’t appear to be the case anymore because a post on Weibo by tipster Digital Chat Station has revealed that the chipset could be delayed to the later half of the year. Apparently this is due to the current pandemic situation over in China where parts of the country are still facing lockdowns due to a recent surge in cases.

At the moment it is unclear which devices are expected to make use of the chipset, so it’s hard to say how many phones will be affected. Digital Chat Station does point out that Lenovo and Qualcomm apparently have a good relationship so there is a chance that the upcoming Motorola Edge 30 Ultra could be the first, but only time will tell.

In terms of what kind of upgrades we can expect, the rumors are saying that for the most part, the CPU cores and clock speeds are expected to remain the same, and that the main difference will be in its GPU which will receive a boost in performance, which should help with gaming.
