Mail2Web Possible Back Door

ok basically i feel that as of may 1st when they atart to charge for the activesync mail2web that it may still be able to be reached for free..... open up your mail2web on your pc.

1. click on my email settings
2. click on view activesync settings
3. there you will see these three options

Download the configuration file
Send an email with a link to the configuration file
Send a SMS message with a link to the configuration file

4. choose the one you want and run it like a cab file on your phone. it automatically sets up the email for you and gets you the newest emails sent immediately, restores your contacts, calender items, tasks, sms messages and other outlook items!!

tell me how this works for you all... works great for me now but hopefully the option will still be there after the first of may.

oh ok thats easy enough do this... from memory so cut me some slack lmao

1. it will ask you for your username and password..... be sure to place

yourname@mail2web.com

2. than it will ask you for server domain and have another spot for user name and password

username@mail2web.com (dont forget to add at mail2web.com
password

(now the doman where ad2 is supposed to be is greyed out since you added the @mail2web.com)

3. than it will ask for your server settings which are
mobile.exchange.mail2web.com

hope this helps and let me know how it goes or if you need further guidance

Re: Mail2Web Possible Back Door

hey bro....did you by chance happen to do it with the new config settings? I (much to my great dismay) am finding that I am going to have to do the paid thing with them....when i was looking into it, they are changing the config server settings when you migrate...if i remember correctly ( i am not going to give them anything until the 30th of April) the

"exchange.mail2web.com" will be changing to somehting more complicated

Solely offered as food for thought....when i migrate next week we will see what we can do to come up with a workaround...

One thing that came up over at ppc (i didnt save the thread address tho dammit) was someone was talking that they were actually getting email through their mms address....granted it was Cricket service, but might be another workaround for email in general....

HTH

Re: Mail2Web Possible Back Door

I actually did the migration and had a heck of a time getting it to work! Although they say that all you have to do is change the server address, well for me that didnt work out so well.....I downloaded the config cab and that didnt help....checked and verified over and over my username and password (in case of a typo, especially in the password)......etc etc etc...finally I deleted that sync setting for mail2web and started a new relationship.....that worked......

As for alternatives and other backdoors, nothing that i know of yet.......until they get stuff ironed out, it will probably be a moving target.

I confirmed this myself that trick worked for awhile.I guess mail2we caught on to that and stopped it..but i can imagine either they change the port number or they installed a stricter settings.

Bummer. Guess I'll do the 60 day trial while I figure out Plan B. Signed up for Seven but haven't installed yet. Some like the Google and Hotmail options. Just don't know yet.

Thanks for the update!!

Do you mean the regular Outlook and Activesync way? I may have to go back to that, I guess. I liked what you said about having contacts backed up elsewhere ...
