Best smart glasses you can buy in 2022

When Google Glass first launched, it was quite a revolutionary piece of technology. After all, the concept of smart glasses was something we would only see in TV shows and movies, so to see it in real life and being something you could actually buy was pretty rad. But unfortunately for Google, society might not have been ready for it yet.Fast forward to the past few years, we’ve started to see more smart glasses being launched. We get that not all of them might necessarily have the style you might expect from a pair of Versace Biggie Sunglasses, but if you think that function is more important to you than form, then here are some of the best options you might be able to find in the market today.

Snap Spectacles 3

[ame][URL="https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07ZHMN53X?tag=phndrd-20"][/ame]Snap is probably best known for their Snapchat app which admittedly sparked the whole ephemeral social media craze, so it was actually surprising that the company got into wearables, and smart glasses at that.

The Spectacles 3 is a great pair of smart glasses if you’re looking for a pair of shades that can also record video and take photos. Thanks to the dual built-in cameras, it is capable of capturing 3D video, which you can then further edit and add effects to in Snapchat and create some truly unique videos.

It also helps that, unlike the Google Glass, the Spectacles 3 actually has a bit of a retro vibe to it that helps make it look more fashionable than geeky.

Ray-Ban Stories

[ame][URL="https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09B1CQFXC?tag=phndrd-20"][/ame]With Meta expanding its products and services well beyond its social media platform, Facebook, it didn’t really come as a surprise as smart glasses was next on their list. It seems that Meta learned from its predecessors because they teamed up with Ray-Ban for the Stories smart glasses, hiding tech inside a fashionable pair of Ray-Ban sunglasses.

It features support for touch and voice controls, and there are also built-in speakers and a microphone so you can record your voice, and as expected with it being a pair of smart glasses, there is also a built-in camera. The Stories smart glasses also come in a variety of colors so you can choose something that fits your look.

Vuzix Blade

[ame][URL="https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08K9D97CK/?tag=phndrd-20"][/ame]Now, so far the glasses we’ve mentioned are pretty basic and are essentially wearable cameras. If you’re looking for something more advanced or futuristic, then Vuzix’s Blade could be it.

It features support for augmented reality, which is something most people think of when it comes to smart glasses. There’s a full-color display built onto the right lens that can overlay information in front of your eyes as you walk about. There will be an 8MP camera built into it that can capture video and you can also take and make calls using voice control.

The best part is that it supports prescription inserts, meaning that if you’re already wearing a pair of prescription glasses, you can use these inserts so that you will be able to wear the Vuzix Blade like a pair of regular glasses.

Bose Frames

[ame][URL="https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07P7VVCDD?tag=phndrd-20"][/ame]Bose is a company that many probably know for their audio products like headphones, earphones, and speakers, but the company has dabbled in some interesting concepts in the past and the Bose Frames is one of them.

Leveraging the company’s experience and history with audio, the Bose Frames are essentially a pair of headphones that you wear as a pair of sunglasses. This is aimed at users who want to enjoy music while on the go without tuning out the rest of the world, which is also a safety feature since it helps keep you aware of your surroundings.

The company has also built controls into the frames of the glasses themselves so that you can control music playback and adjust volume without having to reach for your phone.

Echo Frames

[ame][URL="https://www.amazon.com/dp/B083C58VDP?tag=phndrd-20"][/ame]With Amazon dipping its toes into the smart home market and expanding beyond its retail services, we have to say that when they announced the Echo Frames, we weren’t exactly taken by surprise.

The Echo Frames are a pretty basic pair of smart glasses that will support prescription lenses, so if you want to use them as a simple pair of everyday glasses, they will be able to get the job done. Since it’s made by Amazon, it comes with Alexa integration which means that if you own Alexa-compatible smart home products, you can control it with the glasses without needing to place smart speakers around your home.

While it might not necessarily be the most feature-rich smart glasses around, it’s fine for those who are looking for an alternative way of controlling their smart home devices.
