Diablo Immortal has managed to earn $100 million in just 8 weeks

While no one was naive to believe that Blizzard wasn’t going to monetize the heck out of Diablo Immortal, when the microtransactions were finally revealed, many players were outraged. This is because the way Diablo Immortal’s system works is based on randomness, meaning that players who spend money aren’t necessarily guaranteed the best loot. Many prominent streamers and gamers have spoken out against Blizzard and Diablo Immortal, but it seems that for the most part, players don’t seem to care. According to the latest figures from Sensor Tower, Diablo Immortal has managed to earn a whopping $100 million in the 8 weeks since it launched.

Last we heard, the game earned over $24 million, but following its launch in more markets like Southeast Asia, it seems to have allowed the game to earn much more. Based on Sensor Tower’s data, Diablo Immortal is one of the fastest games to hit this mark, beating out the likes of Fire Emblem Heroes and Fortnite, but falling behind Niantic’s Pokemon Go which took 2 weeks to hit the $100 million mark.

While we’re sure Blizzard is paying attention to all the criticism, the fact that the game is still earning this much despite all the backlash, we doubt that the company is going to do anything about it. It is very possible that Diablo Immortal could be Blizzard’s next cash cow, assuming that this spending trend continues.

In the meantime, if you’d rather not give in to Diablo Immortal’s microtransactions, then here are some alternative games you might want to consider.
