Huawei?s HarmonyOS 3 makes working across devices a lot easier

When Huawei was put on the US Entity List, it seemed like the company was in big trouble because it meant no longer being able to access platforms like Google’s Android, severely crippling its mobile efforts. But it seems that Huawei has been hard at work developing its own platform, HarmonyOS.The company recently unveiled HarmonyOS 3 with the launch of the Huawei MatePad Pro 11 and is expected to roll out to more eligible devices in September, and one of the main and interesting changes Huawei is bringing to the table is for devices running HarmonyOS to be able to work together seamlessly.

How this works is that all users need to do is ensure their devices are placed close to each other, like a smartphone next to a tablet, and they will be able to work together like answering phone calls from your phone on your tablet, playing games from your phone on your tablet, and so on. The best part is that it doesn’t even require both devices to be connected to the same wireless network.

It is kind of similar to Apple’s Universal Control, but if you’re not an Apple fan, this is a great alternative. Huawei is also taking things further by allowing users to create “super devices”, like how you can quickly move your work from your Huawei laptop to a Huawei desktop computer if you need a larger screen.

It is a pity that Huawei’s devices are no longer being officially sold in the US, but since tech companies do “borrow” ideas from each other from time to time, maybe we’ll see a similar feature offered by other companies in the future.
