The best NEW Android apps from August 2022

App developers are pushing the envelope on a daily basis, trying to improve and enhance our smartphone and tablet experiences. In fact, so many Android apps come out every day that it?s difficult to keep track of them all. It?s difficult to usurp the best of the best but if you?re getting bored with what you?ve got and want to try something new, check out the best new Android apps from the last month. You can check out our selections for the best new Android apps released in all of 2021 here.

The best NEW Android apps from August 2022
  1. Aquafy Water Tracker Reminder
  2. Birthday Reminder & Calendar
  3. FishingBooker
  4. Destiny Lights
  5. Microsoft Outlook Lite
  1. My Little Black Book
  2. Plant Parent
  3. RandomWalking
  4. The Stimga App
  5. Threema Libre

Aquafy Water Tracker Reminder

Price: Free / $0.99 per month / $7.49 per year / $35.99 one time

Aquafy is a water tracker app with reminders. Its goal is to help you stay hydrated, which is important in the summertime. The UI looks pretty nice, and the app is easy to use. You can have the app send you reminders based on your current hydration status and there are widgets to make things even easier. There are several other smaller customizations. It works pretty well. Luckily, it?s not terribly expensive as well.

Birthday Reminder & Calendar

Price: Free / $4.49

Birthday Reminder & Calendar is a calendar-style app where you can store the birthdays of your friends, family, and acquaintances. There is also a basic e-card function within the app where you can design a simple happy birthday card and share it over email, social media, or through a message. You can even import data via CSV files if you know how to do that. It?s obviously a niche function, and many people use Facebook for birthday reminders anyway, but the app is still good.

FishingBooker

Price: Free

FishingBooker is a service where you can charter fishing boats all around the world. It works a lot like a hotel app or a similar app. You log in, look for a fishing charter wherever you are, and you can book a fishing trip in just a few minutes. The app seems to work pretty well. It?s well laid out, and it gives the info enough space to where it?s easy to read. You can also adjust trips after the fact without too much of a hassle in most cases. It?s a fairly niche service, so obviously folks who don?t like fishing won?t care about it. It?s still good, though.

Destiny Lights

Price: Free

Destiny Lights is an anonymous social network that aims for free support to folks having a hard time. You log into the app, which is doable anonymously, and you set out a lantern with your woes written inside. Other people read your lantern and give you some words of encouragement. In turn, you can read other people?s lanterns and help them out. Like many new social networking ideas, this one is pretty unique but ultimately niche. Still, it felt nice to write down some of my frustrations and watch them float away.

Microsoft Outlook Lite

Price: Free

Microsoft Outlook Lite is what it seems. It?s a light version of the standard Microsoft Outlook app, which is a pretty decent email client on its own. This lightened version is 5MB in size, doesn?t use a ton of storage on your phone, and doesn?t use a ton of resources to bog down your CPU. Otherwise, it works as Outlook should. You log in, receive emails, and send emails as needed. There are some tools you can use to make life easier. Otherwise, it?s a perfectly serviceable app that uses fewer resources than its full-sized sibling. The only downside is that it?s only available on lower-end phones.

My Little Black Book

Price: Free / $2.99 per month

My Little Black Book is a dating app aggregator. In other words, it lets you log into multiple dating apps and bring in information from each one. You can keep track of things like dates on the integrated calendar and otherwise organize your dating life. There is also a note function where you can keep notes along with some other customization features. It asks for a lot of permissions, which gives you the willies at first. It also needs some work. However, the developers have been adding new stuff with each update so far so here?s hoping they keep it up. The app has potential.

Plant Parent

Price: Free / $5.99 per month / $29.99 per year

Plant Parent is a pretty decent gardening app with a few annoying flaws. On the good side, the app can identify plants and includes various organization and planning features to help you keep your plants healthy. There are also guides on things like sick plants so you can nurse one back to health if need be. On the downside, it doesn?t work offline, and the subscription plans are a little bit much. The app is also definitely new and could use a few more coats of polish. New gardening apps don?t come along every day, and we hope the developers keep at this one because it could be good, but like a plant, it needs some love.

RandomWalking

Price: Free

RandomWalking gives you an excuse to walk around outside. It works a little bit like Foursquare used to work. There are various monuments, places of interest, etc around your area. The app will guide you as you walk to those places. Once there, you can take a picture or do whatever you want.

The app also attempts to suggest new places of interest in your area if they are available. You can also customize walk lengths based on time. Obviously, you kind of have to like walking to like this app, but it?s not a bad low-impact fitness app that also helps you visit interesting places.

The Stigma App

Price: Free

The Sigma App is a support app for folks with mental illness. It?s not an easy topic to talk about, and this app helps you find support for your various woes. You can surf the app to find people with similar issues as you and listen as they tell their stories. The app also lets you record your own messages to send out to the community. It?s nice to get those kinds of things off of your chest. In any case, we know a lot of people won?t immediately go for something like this, but it?s not bad to have in your back pocket in case you need it.

Threema Libre

Price: Free / $10.99-$32.99 per year

Threema is a security-focused messaging service similar to Telegram or Signal Private Messenger. This last month, they took a pretty big next step by releasing an application that doesn?t require any Google APIs or libraries in order to function. That means you can run it on basically any device that runs Android. It requires you to go through some extra steps to install it, and it still costs the same as regular Threema, but it?s also one of the most secure messaging apps available, and now you can have it without a single Google fingerprint on it.
