ARTICLE: Droid event 10-28 — Did Moto get the memo? (briefly listed device

When it comes to Verizon’s Android debut, people can’t seem to help but chomp at the bit. First, someone tips off a (fake) leaked image from Best Buy indicating an early date. Now the phone maker itself offers up spoilers to the online masses.

October 28, that’s the official date for the Droid event, yes? And yet, Motorola put up a brief but thorough glimpse at the device online today at the phone maker’s US site.

Mmmmkay.

Did someone slip at the keyboard deep inside the Motorola offices? Who knows, but however the snafu happened, it was promptly taken down (and the responsible party was likely flogged). For a moment there, though, the specs were all pretty well laid out, with such highlights as:
  • Android 2.0 (Eclair) UI
  • HTML5 (with Flash 10 support in 2010)
  • EVDO Rev A
  • 3.7-inch 480x854 resolution TFT display
  • 550Mhz processor
  • 16GB microSDHC memory card pre-installed (supports up to 32GB)
  • 5MP autofocus camera with dual LED flash, vid recording at 720x480 (24fps)
  • 3.5mm headset jack
  • microUSB 2.0 port
  • 1400mAh battery
  • Size: 4.6"H x 2.4"W x 0.5"D (closed)
  • Weight: 6oz (169 grams)

this is awesome that it is coming to verizon an the thing that caught my eye the most in the article above is that it comes equipped with a 16 gb card....... its like **** you will need 8 gig or higher class 3 to root the device and have room for apps so why not give the users a 16 gb right out of the box... good thinking verizon and motorola.
