Consumer Alert: Protect Yourself From Wireless Spam

Sprint is committed to protecting the privacy of its customers – which includes protecting our customers from unsolicited text messages, also known as Spam.

Sprint currently deploys filtering technology on both of our nationwide networks that helps reduce unsolicited messaging advertisements from reaching subscribers. This filtering technology is automatically enabled on our networks at no additional charge to customers.

Sprint continually enhances its filtering technology and works with federal and state policymakers on measures to protect consumers from unwanted messages. One way consumers can help reduce mobile spam is by reporting it to us whenever they receive an unsolicited text message which they did not provide their permission to receive.

How to Prevent Spam:

*
Sprint encourages customers to report spam by forwarding spam text messages directly to abuse@messaging.sprintpcs.com or by calling Customer Care at *2 on their Sprint phones and 611 on their Nextel phones.)
*
Sprint aggressively investigates individuals and companies that we believe are sending unsolicited text messages. Sprint will send out cease and desist letters to individuals and companies it determines are abusing text messaging.
*
Sprint strives to distinguish customer messages that are authorized and appropriate from unsolicited messages that are unwelcome. Many of our customers have signed up to receive subscription-based or organization distribution list messages and we do not want to prevent those messages from reaching their intended recipients.
*
Sprint customers, by managing their wireless accounts online, can request a block on text messages from specific phone numbers or email addresses. (particular senders)
