PC Antivirus help

Ive done a search and found some antivirus programs for my xp pc, but im not sure which is the best for me to use, can anyone recommend a good, full version antivirus for me?? i need it bad cuz ive detected numerous threats (thanx to everybody that d/l crap to the pc lol) and need to get rid of them asap, but the one i have (PC Tools, found here) is unregistered and cant do nothing about it, thanx

nod32 for sure i use it and love it with a passion and i knoe that kaos can back me on this.

yes nod32 is the shizznit and cant be beat by anything it detects everything and doesnt give false warning for keygens or patches.

yessir i use on the lappy which is vista ultimaste and on the oqo which is xp professional.

once you nod, you cant stop nodding. know it sounds corny but nod is better than syman and takes up way less memory. just give it a try and you'll love it

ok I installed and it has been spending a long time scanning and cleaning my PC (it was more screwed up than I thought) lol that's what happens when I have a younger bro and sis d/l crud there, so far so good, ill gloat in my succes when its done, thanx again 4 dA help

Yeah, I use Nod32 ever since Kaos pointed me in the right directions. It works flawlessly

the thing is that my pc now only shows the desktop background but no icons, no start menu, no nothing!! i had to open the task manager manually by pressing ALT, CTRL, DEL to open my applications, thats when i needed NOD. NOD as far as i can see cleaned up my mess but i still cant get my icons to appear yet, was that a virus or a setting that was messed with??

naw go to your settings and make sure you have the taskbar and all as not being on hide and all of that along with the icons...... if not i personally have no clue what would be causing it.

ok thanx ill keep on the lookout cuz cant seem to find the control panel or settings by file explorer, ill see what i can find

I had this happen one time and had to reinstall windows. Unless you want to pay someone to figure out which file is being corrupted. I just reinstalled it. Not sure what caused it either.

thanx, im not sure what caused it either but im not that bummed, all i need is to store some of my moms important docs in a usb and all my music and cab files are in my moguls storage card so im set, maybe ill upgrade to vista while im at it, but ive gotten mixed reviews on it, what do you think??

i myslef run \vista ultimate and love it..... but go to the microsoft website and download this file and it will tell you what will run best on your computer and mine was ultimate so i went with ultimate.

I myslef has used it at a friends and was not partial to it. BUT Also have heard from others that they love it (like d/\sh). User preference I guess.

i didnt like it at first either but i grew to really love it and liek it better than the xp i was accustommed to.
