[NEWS] ARTICLE: Rumor: Best Buy to stock Moto Droid on 10-24?

If you read Aaron’s post, then you know about the October 28th Verizon/Moto Droid event, in which a launch announcement is hotly anticipated. Okay then, what’s up with the rumors that Best Buy’s getting it this Saturday?

It all goes back to some (supposedly) leaked shots of the retailer’s system, which lists the earlier date (see below).





Okay, so October 24 is clearly listed there, but before you get all excited, bear in mind that it doesn’t necessarily mean it will begin selling the same day. Likely, it’ll be stocked somewhere in the back room, if at all.

But if you know a Best Buy n00bie employee who can score you the handset in advance, well then, I suppose you can start scheming on an early hook-up. And if that friend can also get you a deal on the $599 no-contract price tag, even better. As for the rest of us, I guess we’ll have to keep our eyes peeled for next Wednesday.

UPDATE: According to our own sources, this rumor is exactly that — a rumor. In fact, so much debunking has occurred since this broke, that I wouldn't hold out much hope for anything other than early November. So consider this a PSA: If you see this posted anywhere else, bear it in mind.
