Huawei?s next foldable smartphone will be launching this week



Huawei is no stranger when it comes to foldable phones. In fact, Huawei was right alongside Samsung when both companies announced their first-ever foldables, and now it looks like Huawei is gearing up to launch its next handset.This is according to a post on Weibo by the company where they shared a teaser image of the upcoming Huawei Mate XS 2. According to the rumors, the Mate XS 2 is expected to come with an 8-inch OLED foldable display with a 120Hz refresh rate, and oddly enough will be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 888 chipset.

This is a strange choice given that the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 is the flagship chipset for 2022, and assuming the phone is priced similar to Huawei’s other foldables, this might be a tough sell for the company. It is also rumored to feature a 4,500mAh battery and will also support 66W fast charging.

The launch of the Huawei Mate XS 2 is on the heels of Huawei’s other foldable, the Huawei P50 Pocket which launched in December last year. It is unclear if there are plans to bring the Mate XS 2 to markets outside of China, but ever since the US blacklisted them, the company’s market share has taken a hit, especially now their use of Android is severely limited, resulting in Huawei attempting to push its own HarmonyOS smartphone platform.
