[ANNOUNCEMENT] Thinking About Leaving

i am serious about this too so please dont think that i am bluffing. To tell the truth i pull my weight around here more than any other staff member besides puertoblack2003. I post apps, offer support, help people out whether it is sending them a phone to borrow, selling them something for a cheap price, give advice, free one on one help on my own time, etc and people have been taking advantage of that. I am more than a mind i am human and have feelings to. it sucks to feel like you are being used taken advantage of by the people that you consider/ed family and close friends. Don't get me wrong i love the staff and know that the staff will always have my back but come on cant i get a thanks for what i do here? i offer more support on the boards than anyone in history of forums as my post count shows you and only 11,000 thank yous and installs on my apps i post are ridiculous. look at my installs on the guitar hero 3 that i cracked. i got like 8 of them and over 2000 downloads from the attachment alone and that doesnt include the 3589 downloads throguh the link i offered? im sorry and dont want to sound big headed and all but all i would like to have is people that dont use me for my knowledge in this field and thats how i feel i am being treated. i love this site as many know but im not going to stay at a place that im used at. i can back up the above also, when i go and try to have a convo with people that always go back to the mobile game....., i dont want to talk mobile 24/7 like some freak without a life. i love the mobile world but i dont want to live it. i hope all will resepect my decision i make.... i will be back on sunday with an answer since i will be on alittle tonight and none on saturday...... just find it sad that i cant get the common courtesy from people that i feel i deserve for what i help everyone with... i know many will say its the leechers, no its not the leechers it the people using that i have experienced first hand and am fed the **** up with.... so with that said i MAY be leaving on sunday and stepping down. I think that would be a shame Dash. I know that I really appreciate what you do here and I'm pretty sure that most people are. I know that you don't get all of the credit that you deserve but you know that you are a junkie at heart and you would miss all of us too much. You just have to tell yourself that.....yeah people are lazy sometimes but that isn't because they are not actually thankful. I know that the only reason that I try and help out around here is because I see you and others that are always willing to help and I feel that it is part of my obligation as a member of this FREE forum to help out answering people's questions when I can. IDK Dash.......all I know is that it would be a true loss to this community.

wow man this is crazy....I totally understand on the issue with the Grab-n-goers and the Leechers....down right ridiculous. I know how many hours you put into the site, perfecting,moding,monitoring, everything you can do it for the better. But more recently there has been many attempts on Admins/Mods wanting to step down. You did not let that happen. I feel this site will not be the same w/ out ya man. I hope you decide to change your mind but again I totally understand how it is to not be appreciated. I counted over 1,000 downloads from my tweaks thread and I only have 13 Installed marked....It is ridiculous that people cant hit the thanks button or install but that is going to happen at every single site. damn bro...I understand where you are coming from and ultimately it is your decision to make but I don't think you should leave...SPJ wouldn't be SPJ without D/\sh, you truly are an icon in the mobile world...I know that there are a lot of people who don't hit the installed and thanks button but I believe we have a good core group of people here who do that and provide support when they can. As great as the rest of the moderators/staff are I don't think that there is anyone out here that knows as much as you on so many different aspects of the mobile world. Just know that SPJ will always be your home and that we as a community will always be here and be behind whatever decision you make.

Even though i've only been @ this site for a short period of time i have to say dash is the man.. theres alot of stuff that he really doesnt need to get involved wit but he still does cuz he is a good dude. He helps the noobs,experts,members,and other staff wit no questions asked. I understand that Dash but I don't think that people do it intentionally. Basically cells phone mods is the context in which we all know each other. I don't know who specifically you are referring to but it's hard to have friendships outside of this context without actually seeing and meeting one another IMO. Not saying that we aren't all friends here or that we aren't a community.....but we all are here because of one common interest. With that said, I think that it would still be possible to have friendships outside of this context but you probably would need to take this up with people individually. For instance if you were on palringo and somebody asked you a question or for help.....tell them right then and there that you are not a live customer service rep and to post there question on the boards. This is the sort of thing that I think you would only have to say once for people to get the idea. Or....in this case, just from you sharing your feelings on this subject should be enough. Anyways Dash...just keep your head up buddy.

Bubba, I hear where you are coming from and I know that we kick it on a level more then just ppc's. Just look at how many kills you got on GTA with me... J/k.... but on the real, I am here for you and I am a true friend. I hope you find it in your heart to stay as I dont think I would log on to SPJ if my brother from the SPJ family is no longer with me. We have some great times on SPJ and talk about many things on a personal level, unfortunately, not everyone is going to recognize your efforts and hard work you do because people will be people. Some are good and some bad, the bad ones are the ones that are ruining it for the ones that do care. So with great respect, please reconsider as I dont know where I would be without my brother from another mother, like NO OTHER!

every single person in the staff is my FRIEND and FAMILY and i havent met any of them. pb is like a second father firgure to me since me and my father have a great relationship but we dont share many common interests. i feel you can make friends without troubles through the web. but thats my thoughts on the topic and i have done that through youtube, palringo, aim, pm's, emails, etc...... its pretty damn sad that right when i log on i get mass amounts of messages for support... i cant escape it. like for instance i logged on today and within 20 seconds i had over 30 messages asking for support.... icant keep doing that all the time......... (no they werent old they were new from within those 30 seconds.)

that is some really sad news man, even though we dont talk much outside the site, i consider you a friend and someone i can trust and you know that since you did me the favor of the extra device (if it bothers you in some way, send me a pm ok buddy? i noticed that you mentioned something similar in the first post) but simce then you know that i wouldnt allow any more favors cus i know how it feels to be taken advantage of and i dont want to be part of the problem.

now straight up, the site does have a lot of stress but i do love it here dont get me wrong, how couldnt i ? SPJ turned two years old on the 22nd of feb 09. this is my baby and my love and joy for the past two years. all i said throughout this thread was all true and how i feel. now this has taken me a while to get the balls to say but here we go. on top of me moving back to michigan for my moms i went through my buddy committing suicide just days ago, i was soooo torn up because he was my brother i never had (2 older sisters) i was pretty much attached at the hip with him and loved him to death. after this happened i had no clue what to do or anything. so i resorted to what he did and that was popping lots of vicodin and than chugging some alcohol. i was hospitalized for 18 hours until i got cleared to be released. its just been so hard and i think that ithe only thing that kept me from taking the rest of the bottle of vicodin and drinking the second half of the fifth was you all and my mom and dad. i knew they were be deathly depressed without me being there since i am their little boy. i love you all and cant tell you what it all mean to me..... jsut hard knowing the woman i loved and was engaged too cheated on me 2 years ago and havent had a girl since. this makes it hard since your girl is who you feel comfortable talking to since talking to your boys and breaking down crying like i am now isnt something that you want your boys to see you doing for man reasons...... i just dont know what to do anymore,,,, its tough i dont want to keep going throug hte constant depression that i do go through. it seems like the only time that im hapy is when im on here lately........ i love this place but im soooo confused right now..... i know that there isnt much anyone can say to this post especially but thank you all for the memories and my final decision will be coming soon.

thanks and yes it was hard for me to say but i feel it is something i had to say. i never thought i would ever do something like that to myslef and would never imagine doing it again but with all going on that i mentioned in the first post for a while and than my best friend and my mentor killing himself was just too much to handle and i stupidly decided to take the pussy way out..... its something that i have to live with now and after that experience i shouldnt have been living for a guy my size as the doctor said but the stranger than took me to the hospital at the bar got me there before all went too sour. i owe my life to that guy and of course GOD. i wouldnt be here if the big man didnt feel that my work on earth was done. i thiank you all for the comments and i guess i got some thinking to do. i really do appreciate having you all to talk to and finally getting that off my chest. it really was a hard thing for me to do because suicide is no joke and many look down on that..... and with the girl i know it aint the end of the world and at times i love being single and hanging out with the guys without worries but sometimes you just need a girl to be by your side and love you nad care for you when you are down..... i truely do love you guys and have a whole different outlook on life. it may take me a while to get out of the massive depression that i am in righ now and i may not be on much or at all in the near future why i get my life back straight..... i will give you all a final decision as i said on monday and truthfully without you guys im not sure where i would be or who i would be.

Damn bro... I'm sorry to hear you're going through all that... But take some solace in that all of us go through shit like that at times, especially these days.... It's great that we all have this hobby and passion for cool technology and the empowerment of feeling like somehow we're part of a revolution, but sometimes life kicks you in the nuts and you're left reeling... Dam dash, its good you are talking about it, I have been there a 1 1/2 years ago, my dad died suddenly and 3 months later my husband told me he wanted a divorce, my life was turned upside down, hell I even wrote out suicide letters to my friends, but it was my friends that saved me so when friends here tell you to talk to them do it. People do really care about you, I know I do and I have learned alot from you --im still a noob though--but I would rather you take time off for a while and try to get better than not have you here in this world at all. I dont know what I would do without my dash, my husband hasnt even filed for divorce yet but we are seperated still and I got his health insurance but I say good riddence, as to your girlfriend you should say good riddence because there is someone out there who will treat you and love you the way you deserve. I completely understand how you feel, I can relate it to the fire department. No matter how much I do for them, they always want more. I am just a volunteer, so it doesn't even pay the bills. I have a full time job, and I'm a full time student. I also have a girlfriend that takes up a lot of my time. What I did was have a nice chat with them offering my page and my key back.
