Epoq Pico Projector Lets You Leave your Smartphone at Home

With traditional pico projectors requiring you to either port around a laptop or smartphone to do your Office Mobile PowerPoint presentation, the new Epoq pico projector takes a different approach. Rather than requiring a smartphone to support and power Office and media files, the Epoq Multimedia EPP-CEP1 pico projector has an embedded Windows CE operating system so you can load native Office and PDF files for viewing.

Windows CE is the core operating system that Windows Mobile is built on top of. Having Windows CE as the embedded OS on the Epoq Multimedia EPP-CEP1 means that business travelers will not only save weight by not having to carry a smartphone with TV out capabilities--like the Touch Pro2--but business travelers will not need to carry cables to connect the pico projector and their smartphones.

The Epoq also can serve as a USB host so you can plugin a keyboard or mouse to control the device. It will output pictures at VGA resolutions at 10 lumens with a mono speaker and picture size up to 50-inches. Battery life is around 4 hours. The device is expected to cost around $359.

Unfortunately, since there is no built-in wireless connection, you wouldn't be able to use the Epoq to browse the web.
