You can now stream Fortnite onto your phone with Xbox Cloud Gaming

With the ongoing spat between Epic, Apple, and Google, Fortnite is no longer officially available in the app stores for either iOS or Android, but if you do want to play the game, then you might be interested to learn that Microsoft has announced that the game will be available for streaming via Xbox Cloud Gaming. This means that gamers who want to play Fortnite without having to download the game will be able to stream it onto their Android phones, along with iOS devices or Windows PCs as long as they have internet access. The best part is that it will be free to stream, meaning that you don’t need a subscription to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate to play it.

To be fair, Fortnite is free-to-play to begin with, so this way users will still be able to enjoy the game completely free (unless they opt to make in-game purchases). All users need is a Microsoft account and an internet connection and they’re good to go. According to Microsoft:
“It’s an important step to add a Free-to-Play title to the cloud gaming catalog as we continue our cloud journey. We’re starting with Fortnite and will look to bring more Free-to-Play games people love in the future. At Xbox we want to make gaming accessible to the 3 billion players around the world, and cloud has an important role in that mission. Quite simply we want you to have more choice in both the games you play and the way you choose to play them.”

That being said, for those who prefer playing a downloaded copy of Fortnite on their phones, Epic does note that it is available via the Samsung Galaxy Store or you can download it directly from their website, so those are some alternatives if you don’t want to stream it.
