WhatsApp groups will soon be able to accommodate up to 512 users
WhatsApp, like most messenger apps, allows for groups where many users can come together to chat and discuss things. The current limit is 256 users, which honestly is more than enough for most users, but for larger organizations who have more members, this can be rather limiting. The good news is that WhatsApp has since announced that they are rolling out an update that will enable group chats to play home to up to 512 users at once. While 512 users pales in comparison to Telegram’s 200,000 supergroup, it’s better than nothing. Plus with WhatsApp being one of the most-used messenger apps in the world, we’re sure that many users will benefit from this. “One of the top requests we’ve consistently received is the option to add more people to a chat, so now we’re slowly rolling out the ability to add up to 512 people to a group. Building private, safe, and secure communities takes work and we think this series of improvements will help people and groups stay close to one another.”WhatsApp has been slowly expanding on the number of users it supports for some of its features. For example, back in 2020 during the early part of the pandemic where many countries were in lockdown and many people were working from home, WhatsApp increased its group video call limit to 50 users. We’re not sure if the company has plans to go beyond 512 users in the future, so we’ll just have to wait and see.
