The DJI Mini 3 Pro has been officially launched

DJI has several drones under its belt. This includes larger drones designed for industrial and professional use, and also several mini ones for enthusiasts and hobbyists who want something small and lightweight that they can bring with them on their travels. If you fall into the latter camp, then you might be interested to learn that DJI has since officially announced its latest mini drone in the form of the DJI Mini 3 Pro.

Leading up to its announcement, there have been several leaks and rumors about the drone, namely how it will be redesigned compared to its predecessors, which sure enough have been proven true. The drone now features two prongs in the front which are used to house obstacle and avoidance sensors.

The camera and mount is placed on the underside of the drone, and speaking of cameras, the camera in the Mini 3 Pro has a 1/1.3-inch sensor with a relatively wide f/1.7 aperture. It can capture 4K video at 60 fps, 4K HDR video at 30 fps, and also photos up to 48MP. The camera is supported by a 3-axis gimbal with 90-degree rotation so it should help keep it steady during flight.

The drone has also been given various software upgrades, one of which is Spotlight 2.0 that helps keep a subject in the frame while it flies, making it great for tracking. There’s also a Point of Interest 3.0 update that lets users set a radius and speed for the drone to orbit, and also MasterShots that was previously introduced in the DJI Air 2S that lets the drone automatically create short clips based on pre-programmed flights.

The DJI Mini 3 Pro is offered in two different battery options – the standard which provides up to 34 minutes of flight, and the Intelligent Flight Battery Plus that lets it go for 47 minutes.

DJI has also launched the DJI RC alongside the Mini 3 Pro which is a lighter and more stripped down version of the DJI RC Pro and comes with a 5.5-inch display. If you’re keen on snagging the DJI Mini 3 Pro, it is priced starting at $669 for just the drone, $759 with the DJI RC-N1 controller, or $909 with the new DJI RC controller.
