This is the Google Pixel Tablet, but don?t get too excited

In what could only be described as a pleasant surprise, Google revealed that it was working on a new tablet device, which is set to form part of its device ecosystem. The tablet was announced during Google’s I/O event on May 11.

Google didn’t share any specific details about the tablet, but did mention that it is scheduled for release sometime in 2023. The tablet will run on the Tensor chipset, the company’s own in-house processor.

The tablet’s announcement comes after Google’s unveiling of the new Pixel 6a, Pixel Buds Pro, Pixel 7, and Pixel Watch. It’s clear that Google is aiming to build an ecosystem by integrating its software services and hardware offerings. The 6a and Buds Pro will be available for pre-order on July 21, while the Pixel 7 series and Watch will launch later this year.

Google did share some photos of the device, although it only showed the corners of the tablet, a single camera lens on the rear panel, as well as power and volume buttons. The device reveal was rather unexpected, as many speculated the Google was working on a foldable Pixel device, based on findings in the Android 12L beta.

More details about the tablet will no doubt be revealed soon, so Pixel fans will have to wait for further announcements about the device.
