Achievement Unlocked

Hi, a few friends and I have recently had an idea for an 'i-don't-know-what-it-is.' But to get on with it, we'd like our HTC phones (Moguls and Tilts) to display some sort of Achievement Unlocked Signage where it originally puts a Received Message or Sent Message Box. So that it somewhat displays like this:



Please forgive the poor photoshop, It's just meant to show what i mean :X

I don't necessarily have the ability nor the patience to develop this, but i just hope someone out there is an Xbox fan who would like this.

The Sound would be amazing too, but one miracle at a time i guess --;

it would take adding the image to the windows folder and than naming it what the original image was and it would work without problem.....

Yea, but i really don't know say how TO get the text to show up on the 'Acheivement description' or anything, i'm actually quite lost when it comes to stuff like this. Please help :X

i dont know i will have to go through them when i get a chance you just go to all the image files until you find it.

i found one of them. Its called "ha_msgbox_back_mask"

I looked at that file and a lot of other window files. I'm starting to think that the sms message box is more than just one image??

yes it is its multiple images and word strings prolly found in the registry.

Man I didn't know I should of been looking in the registry. I don't know much about registry editing but I'd like to learn so I'll look to see if I can at least find the images and word strings.

Are you sure it's an image? i've been scrolling through it back and forth and have no luck. and with this replacement, would this change the Alarm and low battery display because it would be kinda neat: ' ACHIEVEMENT UNLOCKED: go to school' or ' ACHIEVEMENT UNLOCKED: Low Battery' or even 'ACHIEVEMENT UNLOCKED: Sending Failed.' well the images are just per say the wallpaper of it and those are in the windows folder. the plugins would resemble the text on the page. and that is the string in the registry that needs tp be changed to anything you like per say achievement unlocked.

well hopefully someone will get the Achievement of Unlocking the Achievements.

Since different phones have different sized screens, would a version of this need to be made for say the mogul, then a separate one be made for the touch/Tilt/Touchpro/wing/ etc.

(be advised i'm not too sure if the mogul has a different screen opposed to the tilt or wing)

yeah any QVGA screen will work.

So the goal is to basically replace the pieces of the origional image with the new one? But how would one go in and change the font? @.e

wow, it's been a while since i inquired about this... after many a hours trying to even find these files...i was wondering if there was a way to explore my mogul's windows file via vista. I've explored Windows Mobile Device Center and came to the conclusion that it's impossible to find this file...

ive bene working on this off and on but missing a couple things and cant seem to find where they store them in the registry......... so when i find them it will be just a couple minute job to get done and test.

sweet! that's wonderful news! but for future projects, is there a way i am able to? say i wanna change my x button to have a crossbone face when it's pressed...just fun little (and easy) customizations i can do...just would be easier from the pc..

you would need to resize and make a pressed image and a regular image and than you would need to find and overwrite those files and make some changes to the registry on the phone itself.

see, that is no problem. I can do that...but i just know how to do it on my PPC only. I'd like to just have the convienience of doing it via my PC. BuuuUUuuUUt the 'Windows' file doesn't show up under my Explorer (on the PC) it could be my own problem, or it's hidden some how o.o catch what i'm saying?

I should just start a thread for this x.x; cause i couldn't find one.

yeah i never needed to see if it could be unlocked... i bet if you posted someone might know if it is possible.

man if you wanna see the windows folder on your pc, you go go to Tools>Folder Options>Show hidden files. Then it should show on your activesync explorer when you click on Windows-Based Mobile Device

Thanks, and i don't know why i didn't think of it. But unfortunately, it only had a small txt file hidden and the 'Windows' folder is no where to be found. Uhm, I personally don't run offa Activesync (only my phone uses it) my PC runs off of WMDC. but still it has an explorer and shouldn't make a difference...

hmm...

that's pretty odd, did you click your device in WMDC? coz it perfectly shows on my laptop. like the Windows folder is visible and completely there. that's how i got to edit my boot screen.

Is it somehow possible that the new ROM is responsible for the hidden file? HTC came out with it a bit back, and it snuck some changes up on me. but i just couldn't resist GPS and Threaded Messaging. BUT ANYWAY...yea, it just had a txt file hidden and inside it just says 'NEWUSER' which seems kinda pointless to me... go figure

Hola, i'm not being impatient, more of just interested. If this is possible, how would the change on the device take place? via cab? or detailed instructions?

It's seems that this thread got crapped on the last couple pages. lol. I was just wondering if there was any headway one this. I am super excited about finding out how to customise these little notifications.

i had to give up on the project since i dont have the time to do everything........ hopefully someone else that is good at images will want to do this and i will help guide them through what they will need to find and overwrite.

did you make sure that you overwrote the files and it asked you to using resco file explorer or total commander than soft reset?

Ok so now I found the real files but I cant get them to do anything. Meaning that the folders I need to edit (shown below) are labeled as read only, hidden and system files. I uncheck them and save but when I go back into the file there all checked again. It still allowed me to over right with the modded files and even shows the picture as being over written in file explorer. (Bottom pictures) So this is beyond my abilities to change the files. Sorry guys. Maybe some one with some with some more knowledge can look into this.

P.S. Maybe its cause it's cooked into the rom. I am not sure
