The recently announced Qualcomm Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 chipset is finally available on a smartphone in China – the Redmi Note 12R is the first device to launch with the latest midrange chip. We already knew most of its key specs as the device was listed on the China Mobile database last week.
Apart from the shiny new chipset and some minor camera differences, Redmi Note 12R shares most of its key specs and design with the recently announced Redmi 12. There’s a 6.79-inch IPS LCD with FHD+ resolution and a 90Hz refresh rate and a punch hole cutout for the 5MP front-facing camera. The back houses a 50MP main cam (f/1.8) alongside a 2MP macro module.
Redmi Note 12R comes with 4/6/8GB RAM and 128/256GB storage which is expandable via the microSD card slot. The device packs a 5,000 mAh battery with 18W charging support and boots MIUI 14 based on Android 13.

It remains to be seen if Xiaomi will bring the Note 12R outside of China.
