Re: Garmin City Navigator North America NT 2010 w/ MapSource 6137
and btw heres a little something for all of you who have this already running on your phones. i found a link to an unlocked USA gmapbmap. you have to have already installed the software to your phone. this will overwrite the gmapbmp.img on your sd card, so back up the origional img file. i'm running this new basemap right now with no issues.
the links are hosted on rapidshare:

best thing is to delete the program and all folders and start over.Originally posted by D/\SHyou psychotk :)

OK, I will give that a try. I thought everything was going well, the software installed but did not recognize my phone. Hopefully, it will the next time I try.sigpicComment

Re: Garmin City Navigator North America NT 2010 w/ MapSource 6137
OK, So I have tried this twice with my Touch Pro. Each time when I go to "get Unit ID" I get a msg that "some devices were found but none have the necessary capabilities....." What am I doing wrong?
Thanks for the help.sigpicComment

if you haven't run quickgps, if that doesn't work, install google maps. launch google maps and click the option "use gps." minimize the application, do not turn if off, then launch garminOriginally posted by D/\SHyou psychotk :)

I've attached a txt file with the directions to install. check this list against the instructions you are using. make sure you follow it exactly. it takes some patience the first time you install it. it took me a couple of times to finally get it right.Attached FilesOriginally posted by D/\SHyou psychotk :)

Re: Garmin City Navigator North America NT 2010 w/ MapSource 6137
OK, I’m pretty good at following directions, but I am getting lost here. First the directions in the first post say to go: “to directory IMG and run CNNANT2010_Update_ENU.msi to install it.†I installed that on my PC as directed, then it says to go to “Under the "Utilities" menu, select "Get Unit ID". Copy your Unit ID.†I did that, but can’t find my Touch Pro even after I run Google Maps. You said to “Install Folder 1: GarminMobileXTforWindowsMobile_42030w.exeâ₠¬Â but I don’t see that.
What am I doing wrong? Should I not have installed "CNNANT2010_Update_ENU.msi" on my PC?

follow the directions in the first post to install to your pc. the text file i attached was meant for installing to the TP.
I don't understand what you mean by you can't find the TP. are you not seeing it via activesync, or Garmin doesn't find the GPS???
also the attached text file is the original install instructions from the person who invented the workaround. the procedure has not changed, for installing the software to your TP, the only thing that has "Changed" is theupdated maps.
can you post some screen shots???Last edited by PsyChoTk; August 16, 2009, 03:43 PM.Originally posted by D/\SHyou psychotk :)

Re: Garmin City Navigator North America NT 2010 w/ MapSource 6137
I mean that the instruction say to install to the PC, then "connect your GPS (in my case Touch Pro) to your PC." and then "get unit ID". When I do that the Garmin does not see my TP, Active sync does, but Garmin says that "some devices were found, but none have the necessary capabilities..." that's the part I'm stuck at. I'll post screen shot if that will help.sigpicComment

Re: Garmin City Navigator North America NT 2010 w/ MapSource 6137
Ok. Lets try this. Forget everything you’ve done so far. Delete all files on your TP.
1. Make sure you have an active sync connection with the TP.
2. Download This fileit’s the garmin app for your TP.
3. After download, un-rar the file.
4. Goto into the garmin folder and start with folder 1. you will notice all the folders have zipped files. just extract them in thier folders and lauch the setup.exe file in each.
5. Start installation of 'GarminMobileXTforWindowsMobile_5.00.20w.exe' from PC through ActiveSync.
6. Select your Storage Card as destination.
7. During the installation, files will be copied to your storage card.
8. Goto folder 2 and ‘GarminMobileXTFreeBasemap_4xxxx.exe' for Garmin's base map.
9. Goto folder 3 and install 'GarminMobileXTSupportFiles_4xxxx.exe' for voice files.
10. To be safe unplug your phone and soft reset
11. After bootup run GarminMobileXT on your phone.
12. Eventually, after several user prompts, you will see two lines of unit numbers and something else, it eludes me right now. Anyway one is the id of your phone and the other is the id of your sd card. You might have to run both sets of numbers to get the unit id right. But in most cases, after you have done this once, you can transfer the card to another phone and just launch the garmin.exe file and install. (FYI the garmin software uses the SD card info to register not the phone. That’s who they can ship their package on a card for your phone and charge you extra for the card)
13. Anyway the Unit ID and use keygen to create unlock key.
14. Copy the key into a text document via notepad and save it as “sw.nl”
15. Save it to your desktop for the next step. Close notepad.
16. Using the options in win explorer un-check the box about “Hide extensions for known file types”
17. You should now see the file as sw.nl.txt.
18. Using win explorer take the .txt off of the extension and yes to save.
19. Copy 'sw.unl' to '\Storage Card\Garmin'.
By now you’ve pulled your hair out, here’s an easy fix. Click this link to get the updated maps as an unlocked file. The link will take you to linksave. (All the links are rapidshare and safe, I’m using the software/maps on my phone right now. linksave just hides the rapid links)
You will need all the files BUT they will extract to an unlocked .img file. Simply copy the file to the Garmin folder on your sd card and your done.
I think thats about it. I know I didn't "Code" the links I was trying to keep the post clean and in order.
i hope i've explained it ok. i followed the above and it's not failed me. I really don't know what more I can help with, without seeing some screen shots. sorry.

Theres a typeo step 14. should say save the file as "sw.unl" NOT "sw.nl" sorry for the confusion. maybe a mod could hook me up and make the correction.Originally posted by D/\SHyou psychotk :)

the blue part that says "this link" in my post above yours has the like to rapidshare for the garmin xt software for your phone. NOT the maps.Originally posted by D/\SHyou psychotk :)
