Galaxy A12 gets unexpected December 2023 update

Samsung's Galaxy A12 just turned three, and although the phone should follow a biannual update schedule, it is now getting a third security patch for 2023.

A few weeks ago, the Galaxy A12 received the November 2023 security update as its second of the year. Now, the same phone is getting the December 2023 security patch in countless markets across Europe and in the USA.

Entering the new year with the safety on

State-side, the unlocked Galaxy A12 is getting the December 2023 update via firmware version A125U1UES8CWL1.

The carrier model in the USA is getting the December 2023 update via firmware number A125USQS7CWK5.

In Europe, the December 2023 update is going live for the Galaxy A12 in numerous countries through firmware version A125FXXS4CWK3.

The December 2023 security patch brings 75 fixes for known security vulnerabilities affecting Google and Samsung software and hardware. Not every vulnerability concerns the Galaxy A12, but in theory, the phone should now be just as secure as other devices that have received this month's security update.

Galaxy A12 users should be able to download the security patch on their phones via the Settings app, by accessing “Software update” and tapping “Download and install.” You can also download the latest official firmware files from our website and install updates manually using a PC.
