Motorola has officially introduced the Motorola Edge 50 Pro smartphone at an event held in India. The surprising thing is the brand brings only the Pro variant to the latest Edge 50 series. However, there is no confirmation on whether the brand is bringing the base variant. The naming of the devices is slightly confusing as the Pro variant is supposed to be a successor to the flagship Edge 40 Pro smartphone but, the specs of Edge 50 Pro suggest it is more of a successor to the mid-range Edge 40 smartphone.Â
Whatever, Motorola packs a decent level of specs in its latest mid-range smartphone, Let’s take a look at it.
Motorola takes its Pantone partnership even further with the launch of the Motorola Edge 50 Pro smartphone. The device features a Pantone-validated camera and display that ensures an authentic spectrum of human skin tones and Pantone-validated colors on the display.
Motorola Edge 50 Pro features a 6.7-inch stunning 1.5K curved OLED display with 2000 nits of peak brightness and a 144Hz refresh rate that ensures super smooth scrolling and visual experience. Under the hood, the device is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 chipset paired with up to 12GB of RAM and 512GB of internal storage. As for the software, it runs on a typical Motorola UI based on Android 14 that offers a clean and bloatware-free UI experience out of the box. Motorola promises three years of Major OS updates and four years of security updates for the Edge 50 Pro device.
The new addition to the Edge 50 Pro smartphone is Moto AI which offers great AI-powered features like outfit-matching AI wallpaper, and generative AI features, and you can even tweak your photos with the help of AI.
The smartphone boasts a 4,500mAh battery with 125W wired and 50W wireless charging support. For lenses, the Edge 50 Pro has a triple rear camera setup at the back, featuring a 50MP f/1.4 main camera paired with a 10MP telephoto lens with 3x digital zoom, and a 13MP ultrawide lens. Motorola Edge 50 Pro features a premium metal frame and comes in two back material options – the premium vegan leather and matte-finished acetate back.Â
The Edge 50 Pro starts at Rs 31,999 (~$383) for the base 8GB RAM/256GB storage variant and the higher end 12GBRAM/256GB storage variant costs Rs 35,999 (~$431). However, this pricing is for India only. According to the Notebookcheck’s leak, the European pricing for the Edge 50 Pro will start at €864.99 when it hits the Europe market.
