Galaxy S23s fingerprint issue with One UI 6.1 to be fixed soon

A few days ago, Samsung released the One UI 6.1 update to the Galaxy S23. While it brought several new AI features and UI improvements, it also introduced a few bugs. A few people noticed that their Galaxy S23 started having fingerprint issues after installing the update, and Samsung has acknowledged it.

Samsung will soon fix One UI 6.1 fingerprint issue on Galaxy S23

Samsung said on its Community Forum (via @tarunvats33) that it is aware of the fingerprint-related issues happening on some Galaxy S23 units after installing the One UI 6.1 update. The company is planning to fix it with a software update in the near future. While the company didn't reveal the exact timeframe for the update, it could be fixed with the April 2024 update.

Right now, only the Galaxy S24, Galaxy Z Flip 5, and Galaxy Z Fold 5 have received the April 2024 update. It could be released to the Galaxy S23 series in the next few days.

What is the fingerprint issue on the Galaxy S23?

Some users have reported that when they wake up their phone by pressing the power button or double-tapping the screen, the fingerprint reader icon doesn't appear.

Even when users try to place their finger where the fingerprint icon is supposed to be, the screen doesn't get unlocked. Once they lift their finger, the fingerprint icon finally appears on the screen, and users can then place their finger on the screen to unlock the device. This has caused a lot of frustration among Galaxy S23 users.
