Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6 could get a durability upgrade

The problem with foldable phones is its durability. The fact that it opens and closes will eventually cause wear and tear. Companies like Samsung have been working on improving the overall durability, and the upcoming Galaxy Z Flip 6 could be getting a welcome upgrade in that department.

This is according to a report from Korean publication The Elec. They claim that the Galaxy Z Flip 6 will be seeing improvements made to its screen and hinge durability. The report says that Samsung will be utilizing a thicker “ultra-thin glass” (we know, the irony). It will increase in thickness from 30 microns to 50 microns.

This is said to improve the overall hardness of the display while also reducing the crease in the middle of the phone where it bends. The hinge itself will reportedly remain the same. It will utilize the same hinge as the Galaxy Z Flip 5, which to be fair isn’t too bad. If you’re hoping for a hinge redesign, you might have to hold out for the Flip 7.

We haven’t really heard too many complaints regarding the durability of Samsung’s new foldables. This doesn’t mean it cannot be improved upon. Hopefully these changes could convince more people to adopt the form factor.
