Galaxy S21 lineup grabs the May 2024 security update

Galaxy S21, Galaxy S21+, and Galaxy S21 Ultra owners in European countries can now download the May 2024 security update on their phones. This is the first software update for the Galaxy S21 lineup following the One UI 6.1 update that was released at the beginning of the month.

The May 2024 update for European Galaxy S21 series users can be identified by a build number ending in GXDH. It is rolling out over the air and can be downloaded from the phone's Settings » Software update menu. Alternatively, S21, S21+, and S21 Ultra owners can download the related firmware files from our firmware archive and upgrade their phone using a Windows PC and Samsung's firmware flashing tool.

Only security enhancements are part of the latest Galaxy S21 update. If you're facing any issues after installing One UI 6.1, such as higher battery drain, this update won't do anything to help. As for the security part of the update, you can check out the details of the May 2024 security patch here to see what kind of vulnerabilities have been fixed.

For Galaxy S21, S21+, and S21 Ultra owners outside Europe, the May security update should go live over the next few days. However, with Samsung focusing a lot of its resources on getting One UI 6.1 out to every eligible device, these security updates may be delayed in some countries.
