    Amazon announces new Kindle family, including the first color Kindle

    • Amazon officially announced the new 2024 Kindle lineup.
    • The new devices include the Kindle Colorsoft Signature Edition, the first Kindle-branded e-reader with a color display.
    • Other refreshes include new versions of the Kindle Scribe, Kindle Paperwhite, and the Kindle.



    Updated: October 16, 2024 (10:40 AM ET): Amazon accidentally announced these new Kindles early, but then pulled the announcement. However, it has now re-announced them, so they are official.


    Orginal article: October 16, 2024 (07:08 AM ET): Kindles are great e-reading devices thanks to their lightweight design, distraction-free UX, insane battery life, and easy access to books and digital media. However, Amazon has largely stuck to black-and-white displays for its e-readers, shunning color to focus squarely on a great text-reading experience. But change is here, as the company has announced its first color Kindle, the Kindle Colorsoft Signature Edition.
