You can now edit HDR videos using an app Samsung helped bring to Android

Android has always been behind the curve when it comes to apps optimized for tablets. In comparison, iPads have a lot more tablet-optimized productivity apps. Three years ago, Samsung tried to solve that issue by helping bring LumaFusion (popular pro-grade video editor) and Clip Studio Paint (pro-grade drawing) apps to Android. Now, LumaFusion has received support for editing high dynamic range (HDR) videos.

New version of LumaFusion for Android can edit HDR videos

LumaFusion has revealed that the newest version of the app (version 2.3) for Android devices supports editing HDR videos. Right now, HDR video editing is supported on select Android devices. We think the feature could be limited to devices that have HDR-capable screen, and it is likely available on high-end Galaxy smartphones and tablets.

To check whether your device supports HDR video editing via LumaFusion, create a new project in the app and tap on the Color Space option. If you see the color spaces listed below, your device supports HDR video editing.
    • Standard – Rec. 709 – 10-bit
    • Wide Gamut HDR – HLG
    • Wide Gamut HDR – HDR10 (PQ)
    • Wide Gamut – Display P3

This new version of LumaFusion also brings several bug fixes, including the ones for blank clips, title presets, and voiceovers. You can download the app from either the Galaxy Store or the Google Play Store. We have noticed that the app costs 50% less on the Galaxy Store compared to the Play Store, at least in India.
