Galaxy S26 Edge could get slimmer with a bigger battery

The Galaxy S26 Edge battery could finally solve one of the biggest complaints about last year’s model. Tipster Ice Universe claims Samsung is making the S26 Edge even thinner, but with a larger battery.

That’s a bold move. The S25 Edge was just 5.8mm thick, the slimmest Galaxy S phone yet. But that slimness forced a compromise: a 3,900mAh battery. It didn’t last as long as most users hoped. Even the base S25 had a bigger cell.

Now, Samsung is reportedly using new battery material tech to increase capacity without increasing thickness. Likely candidate? Silicon-carbon. It stores more energy in the same space as lithium-ion and could be the key to making the Galaxy S26 Edge battery more practical.

Samsung isn’t the only company chasing ultra-thin. Apple is working on the iPhone 17 Air, its thinnest iPhone ever. But early rumors suggest it might also suffer from weak battery life due to size constraints. If Samsung can beat Apple here, it could be a strong selling point.

We still don’t know exact specs for the Galaxy S26 Edge. There’s no confirmed number for thickness or capacity just yet. But leaks also suggest it could pack a 50MP ultra-wide camera and replace the Plus model in Samsung’s lineup.

The only question now is timing. If Samsung launches the S26 Edge alongside the main S26 series, some S25 Edge buyers might be annoyed. It’s been less than a year.

Still, if the rumors are right, the Galaxy S26 Edge battery could shift from a weakness to a standout feature. That alone might be enough to win back early skeptics.
