Galaxy S26 Edge could fix one of the S25’s biggest weaknesses with a 4,400mAh battery

Samsung’s Galaxy S25 Edge turned heads with its sleek design, but its battery left a lot to be desired. At just 3,900mAh, it felt underpowered by 2025 standards. That might change next year. According to a new leak, the Galaxy S26 Edge could finally get the battery boost users were hoping for.

The report comes from Chinese tipster Instant Digital on Weibo. The tipster claims the Galaxy S26 Edge will feature a 4,400mAh battery. That’s about a 12% increase over the current model. It’s not massive, but it puts the phone in a better place, especially for those who felt the S25 Edge didn’t last as long as it should.

For comparison, Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 7 also uses a 4,400mAh battery. While that still trails behind phones packing 5,000mAh or even 6,000mAh cells, the Edge series has never been aimed at power users. With Samsung’s software optimizations, the extra capacity should still help push the S26 Edge into more reliable territory.

Right now, there’s no word on Samsung using newer silicon-carbon battery tech to achieve this bump. That makes us wonder how they plan to fit a larger battery without making the phone thicker. The slim design is the whole point of the Edge branding, so increasing the battery while keeping the same thin profile is no small feat.

Silicon-carbon battery tech allows bigger capacity without more bulk. But so far, Samsung has stayed away from it. Apple too. It’s unclear what the holdup is, but with more phones pushing the limits of size and battery life, that could change soon.

The Galaxy S26 series is expected to launch early next year. If this leak holds up, the Edge model could finally find a better balance between looks and longevity.
